We also need that same community we foster to support us; from bike donations, Hub DIY annual memberships, volunteering at the Hub to recondition bikes, volunteering at our events or on our board, or even monetary contributions. It takes a village to create a generation of healthy active youth, and Calgary is the best village we know.

Youth en Route’s primary focus is on youth gaining freedom and independence through active modes of travel, but we know there is a lot more to being a teenager than just school. We always look to our chain to make sure we are not missing a link, and that encompasses our community work. Whether it is the Hub Community Bike Shop that allows people of all ages to keep their wheels spinning year round, working with local community bike heroes who service bikes from their garage for the neighbourhood, or the Kids Bike Trade Up that ensures access to youth as they grow while keeping bikes out of our landfills, local community events we attend or our flagship event CycleFest YYC, we endeavour to foster a community of active transportation culture and make it easier to be a part of it, no matter what your entry point is.
