We are working to empower healthier youth to have the agency to get around their communities independently.
Bike Hub DIY bike shop is open!
Youth en Route and our good friend and partner Adam Rhind at Bathtub Bikes opened a community bike shop. For just a $20 annual membership anyone can use the tools and bike repair stands to repair their own bike. Support and expert advice will come from our onsite bike mechanic.
We’ve kept membership costs very low, and there is no fee to use the stands. We are asking people who can afford to support our shop to donate to Youth en Route. With enough support, we’ll be able to expand opening hours.
Our goal is to build Calgary’s bike community. We even have a Pedal it Forward board where you can buy a chain, tube or part for someone who can’t afford it. This keeps everyone rolling!

Here is what we do
We’ve delivered 40 Adaptive Bikes to Calgary Schools, and we do not plan on stopping there. We want to make sure every student gets to experience the joy of bike riding! Adaptive Bike Project news
Youth en Route’s mission and vision are evolving. Our mission: Empowering youth to be healthy and resilient through using a bicycle to reach everyday destinations. Our vision: Youth have agency to independently travel their community by bicycle.
We break barriers for youth to be able to use active modes of transportation everywhere in the city, including on Calgary Transit.
We are always looking for bike donations. We want to make sure youth have the equipment they need to get where they are going. Having skills doesn’t help if you don’t have a bike. Consider a donation! We commit to recycling all donated and found bikes,
Cycling in winter is not only exhilarating and empowering, it is another way to experience freedom to get where you want to go. With the proper equipment and clothing, cycling in winter provides all the same benefits as in fair weather.
Youth en Route is committed to providing accessibility to active transportation for students. We have given away our fleets at Forest Lawn High School and Sir John Franklin so that students can have freedom this summer!
